TESTIMONIALS

Submitted by Carrie Humphrey My 10 year old son loves this place! Great instructors and great people in general. Our boy also does other sports but is in the small size for his age, the discipline and self confidence he gets from attending the classes here is what keeps us coming back. I have and will continue to recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Jiujitsu program.

Submitted by Paul Godenitz I joined Combat Base Texas - Shebaro Jiu Jitsu in the summer of 2019 when moving to Dallas. I was welcomed as a new member into a community that was supportive and family-oriented, while producing athletes that compete locally, regionally, and internationally.

Great gym if you want to get in shape and learn practical martial arts skills! Highly recommend!

Submitted by Marc Studebaker Great quality, great atmosphere, great culture. Warm and welcoming. You really feel pulled in and made to feel like you belong. It's among my top recommended jiujitsu and fitness gyms to anyone.

Submitted by Anthony Orlando The people and coaches are kind, tough, and fun. Daughter loves the classes and so do I! Come get some.

Submitted by Zach Protzman Great staff, friendly environment, clean facility. The head coach is a Brazilian JiuJitsu wizard with a strong Judo influence as well. It has a really good fitness class too, with a really good fitness coach.

Submitted by Steve Pharr Solid real world Jiu from a Tier 1 operator

Hands down the best training I've experienced in 10+ years of JJ training. The technique is applicable to all real world scenarios. A super cool community where everyone is welcome regardless of how much you know. If you are an experienced grappler or a new beginner this is the best place to train!

Submitted by Alexis Cassiday Amazing environment! Felt welcome and challenged from day one. Best hour of my day.

Submitted by Maddie Brackett Excellent facility with top notch training. I trained here for 5 weeks during an internship, as I am originally from Oklahoma City. Alan and his entire staff were extremely helpful and welcoming from the beginning. I can’t say enough great things about Combat Base Texas! I highly recommend checking them out if you’re anywhere near the area. (And try out the fitness classes! They’re killer in the best way!)

Submitted by Brad Wilham Great gym with a great atmosphere. Newcomers are warmly welcomed by staff, instructors, and students. The gym is well laid out and classes are a good size consisting of all belt levels which made for a good variety of training partners.

Alan Shebaro has a methodical approach to teaching techniques which makes them easy to follow and understand why they work. His competitive record speaks for itself so you can rest assured the techniques have been tested and proven to work. He changes up the techniques he teaches well which provides a good variety. Even the high level brown belts are learning something new each class.

I would recommend this gym to anyone of any skill level that wants to build a solid, well-rounded game.

Submitted by John Sanchez Very great gym to learn and compete with some of the best in DFW. Every training session you’ll have leaves you a better person mentally and physically.

Submitted by Byron Jabara Great training, Alan really puts his heart into his teaching. His care for the student and attention to detail is awesome.

Submitted by Austyn McNeil Having trained and coached in a few different world class gyms across the country, I can honestly say that this facility has no peer when it comes to training environment, brother/sisterhood, and a no nonsense take on the art of jiu jitsu. Nothing is perfect, but if you would like to get as close as possible, there is no better place than Combat Base Texas; where your actions define you, and the only limit is the one you place on yourself.

Submitted by cjh014 hart Fantastic coaching, and great atmosphere. The owner rolled with me on the first day, I’ve gone to gyms for a full year and never rolled with the owner/head coach. Great place to get started in Jiu Jitsu.

Submitted by Alan LeFort Alan's teaching methods are highly effective and practical. In the 6 months that my daughter (16) has been attending, I have seen tremendous progress in her ground game. It has helped her win Judo tournaments (her main sport) and improved her wrestling game (HS). Additionally, he has created a very welcoming and family-like culture that makes my daughter want to keep going back and train more!

Submitted by Charles Anozie I had a wonderful experience for the couple classes I took (since I was just visiting). Coach Alan has great way of combining jiujitsu and judo that I haven't experienced before, in a way that was very easy to implement into your individual jiujitsu game. I loved how the warm ups for the gi and Nogi was practicing different takedown entrances instead of mindless drills, everything had a purpose. Be sure to stop by if your in the area 10/10.

Submitted by David Skorka I have been fortunate to train here for the past 3 years... Coming from another school I have found Professor Shebaro to be a class act and passionate about his students. The school is very welcoming to all who attend. All students are friendly and helpful especially for new students or first time attendees. It’s one big family and proud to be part of it.

Submitted by Josh Deets Outstanding place for kids and adults. Coaches take the time to TEACH and guide kids and adults along. Both of my boys love it, and our daughter will start as soon as she’s old enough. Combat Base Texas has become like a second family to us, even my introverted wife feels comfortable and welcome. We plan on staying here as long as we live in McKinney!

Submitted by Paloma Guzman Combat Base Texas is absolutely amazing, look forward to every chance I get to train. The people here are friendly and super helpful. Shebaro does a great job at helping you understand the mechanics. 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

Submitted by Randy Bolz Love being a member. One of the best training facilities I’ve experienced. Great family of athletes.

Submitted by Amy Coxen This gym is phenomenal. What I love about training here is that Professor Shebaro customized genuinely cares about the safety and growth of his students and teaches accordingly. Whether you are experienced or brand new this place is a great learning environment and a safe place to train.

Alan Shebaro is a WONDERFUL instructor who has an eye for detail. Every move he teaches, he goes over step-by-step to ensure everyone understands the move being shown. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone in the class understands what it is you are doing and why. His teaching style is to drill, drill, drill with the RIGHT technique so that when you roll you flow effortlessly. He is always one to push you to YOUR edge and will always give 110% to all his students.

Mr. Shebaro is the premier BJJ instructor in Mckinney. Since I have joined I have noticed his class grow ten fold. His knowledge is extremely vast. He takes his time with each student to make sure they understand the flow drill properly. What I appreciate most about Mr. Shebaro is he is extremely honest with each student. He doesn't just give belts away. He wants his students to be the best. I've seen some of his blue belts defeat purple and even some brown belts from other gyms.

Professor Shebaro is unique in his skill and instructional acumen. Classes are designed to flow from one lesson to the next with interconnected techniques. He has discussed preventing submissions with me, but he prefers deep understanding of the submission itself to see as a practitioner what will prevent it. This level of insight and detail permeates his classes. His students form a family and respect is inherent in his facility. I look forward to my next opportunity to train with him.

Alan's instruction is WORLD CLASS!! Not only is he a phenomenal instructor but he knows the students he teaches; what motivates them; what drives them. Some might need to be handled with kid's gloves while others with tough love and everything in between. It was a breath of fresh air when I had Alan in my corner during a jui jitsu tournament i was in. I could hear his instructions clearly and he knew exactly what needed to be done for me to be a winner.

Submitted by Cain Hinojos
One of the absolute very best instructors. Mr. Shebaro is so due to the fact of his ability to explain the reasoning and effectiveness of each and every single move and technique. Taking his time to ensure that knowledge is obtained and absorbed by asking the students the right questions in order to have the student not only grow as a better pratctioner of BJJ but to open their way of thinking. I am honored and proud to call him a coach, instructor and a friend.

I'm completely new to this sport and Alan's uses of allusions, repitition and explaining WHY something is done a certain way make everything a whole lot easier. He shows us the common sense shortcuts and strategies that other instructors (on YouTube) don't do. When we're going over a move, we go over it in groups multiple times and while that goes on, he goes to each individual group and tells them what's being done wrong, right, how and why to fix it. His instruction proves he obviously has a huge knowledge of the sport.

Alan is the best instructor I have come across so far. He is very detailed and step by step with all of the moves he demonstrates. He make sure his students not only understand the how, but the why behind it. He doesn’t yell, he doesn’t condescend, and he doesn’t use his students as a way to show off his own skills. I think of his flow drills every time I roll. He is not the kind of instructor that sits in a corner and shouts instructions, or just hovers over you and tells you what you are doing wrong. He truly engages with all of his students. He has said many times, “I am not teaching students, I am teaching future training partners.”

Alan Shebaro is a high caliber instructor/coach that delivers lessons with clarity and precision. He has a sincere desire to see all of his students succeed, and people cannot help but respect him for that, as well as for his many other powerful qualities. He has deep understanding of everything he instructs, and because of that has been able to teach everyone that I have seen him work with. Alan Shebaro is sowing the seeds of greatness in Tier 1 Training Facility, and I highly recommend becoming a part of it.

Alan Shebaro is world class. He has completely changed the way I have approached fitness, training, and BJJ. He tells you your weaknesses and gives you ways to strengthen them. I called him and told him about a poor performance in a tournament and he laid out a plan to prevent it from happening again. I won the next tournament. He took me from a almost strictly guard guy to a balanced BJJ practitioner. He is not only a great instructor but a great guy. Osss!

Submitted by Tiffany Marsh
Alan Shebaro is an amazing instructor. He coaches all of his students to excellence and helps all of us achieve our greatest potential. He is very dedicated to his skill, showing us the same move 4 times if need be, and when we make mistakes, he corrects us and encourages us to try again. Without Alan, i wouldnt be the athlete I am today. I would recommend anyone and everyone to join up at Combat Base Texas and see what Mr. Shebaro has to offer!

As a Strength and Conditioning coach and Martial Artist of 15+ years, there is no question that Alan is the best coach I've trained under. From a values standpoint, what impacted me most, is a great passion to help others achieve success (whatever form it may come in). That type of selflessness something too many in this industry only pay lip service to. From a technical coaching perspective, his ability to zero in on areas for improvement then develop the right training solution is the hallmark of a champion caliber coach. It's a function of years of experience as well as God given talent, and it's very rare to find. Alan is a true warrior and he has proven it on the mat, in the gym, and in the Special Forces. In my opinion he personifies the best of the warrior class. Honor, courage, toughness, and dedication to victory, these are all traits he embodies and shares. I'm very honored to call him friend and coach.

Alan is one of the most talented instructors I've ever gotten to work with. Every time I've gotten the opportunity to learn from Alan, I've walked away with game changing technique. Great teacher and better person

Combat Base Texas is the future of combat sport training! Alan offers world-class instruction and is an exceptional person. You get the best instruction in BJJ gi and no-gi, Judo, and Fitness all in one place.

Professor Alan Shebaro is an outstanding instructor and mentor. His teaching techniques and methods are easily understandable by all levels of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I feel that his teachings prove themselves in his students. I personally have learned a lot from Professor Alan Shebaro. He has not only given me the technical edge but also the mental edge in competition by making sure that first and fore most you believe in yourself and your abilities. Since being promoted to purple belt by Alan I have won 3 mma titles in 3 different states and have had 6 mixed martial arts fights which I have won all of them. I have also won several prestigous grappling titles in both gi and no gi. I credit all of my wins and such to Coach Alan Shebaro. His grappling and strength and conditioning instruction has put me above and beyond my competitors. I highly recommend Professor Alan Shebaro for all your goals you might have whether it be to just get in shape, learn discipline, or maybe have future plans to compete.

Alan Shebaro is a high level jiu jitsu instructor whose reputation speaks for itself. I have never seen a gym grow in the way that Combat Base Texas has. Coach Shebaro's instruction and attention to detail is top notch. His passion for the gym shows in not only the instruction, but the quality of the facility. His professionalism is unmatched. He is honest, straight forward, and very loyal. I am honored to call him Coach and friend. He is very kind, self-less, and has a huge heart. But don't mistake that for weakness, he is still capable of killing you.

I've seen Alan work with three feet children and six feet adults. What is always present is his respect for every individual and his passion and dedication to his teaching and training.

Alan Shebaro opened my eyes to a new level of training. He slowed my individual movement while speeding up my thought process. Alan taught me to respect those I train with and respect the world of jiu jitsu. Alan introduced me to higher levels of fitness and did them with me. Alan is very detailed and never misses the details. Teaches you the small things. Ingrains them in your brain so you can be successful in each technique. Alan constantly asks you what you are uncomfortable with and works with you on it. Even as our paths separated Alan has kept up with what I am doing and follows my fights or tournaments. Alan is a one of a kind guy. A true hero of the sport.

Alan Shebaro is an outstanding coach. He pays attention to detail and explains things thoroughly so that things are easily understood. Combat Base Texas has grown drastically since I've started training there, and not only have a seen significant improvements in my strength and conditioning, but it's noticeable across the entire group of students. Mr. Shebaro also trains with us during class. I've trained at several places and rarely do u see a world class coach train next to his students. Mr. Shebaro is motivating and extremely knowledgable about everything he teaches. I love training at tier1, great people, great workouts and combatives, with the best coach....what more could u ask for?

Alan has been a friend and training partner of mine for over 10years. His level of knowledge in jiu jitsu and sports conditioning is indeed first class. He has exemplified both in his own life at the highest level. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence is what puts him on another level. If you are in the McKinney (Tx) area, I encourage you to attend a class. You won't be disappointed.

I met Alan in 1998 and we became fast friends and training partners. Alan’s is a life dedicated to training and teaching martial arts and combat skills. His training and conditioning programs consistently produce highly technical and physically fit individuals that perform extremely well in the training environment as well as in competition. From white belt to black belt, Alan has something to offer every skill set and physical fitness level.

Bad ass instructor! Alan is a respectable man, he is great with everyone. He is a great instrutor when it comes down to details, step by step instructions are given so no one will fall behind. The passion is deffinately there with it comes down to Alan coaching. The workouts are very motivating. Alan is helping me in training for jiu jistu, with him by my side I know he will get me to where I need to be. I love trainning at the Combat Base Texas and everyone apart of it.

I served with Alan Shebaro in the United States Army in Special Forces. We did three combat rotations of Iraq together. All together I have eight combat rotations to Iraq and Afghanistan in Special forces. I have served in the Army for twenty years 11 of those years in SF. Alan is by far hands down the best BJJ instructor I have ever had the privilege to train under. There are those that know BJJ and there are those that know it so well that they can teach it to even some of the most difficult students. The way he teaches makes it seem natural, as he explains all aspects BJJ. BJJ is definitely his passion, and through an incredible work ethic, in everything he does, determination and understanding it has become his gift. He has definitely proven himself beyond a doubt and I trust him with my life, and have so in the truest since. Most importantly he is and always will be a close friend and brother!

Professor Shebaro is truly an elite among professionals. Super attention to detail and discipline; and one that cares about the quality and progression of the art and sport.

You can always tell a great instructor not only by the way they teach but also by how much time and knowledge they are willing to share. Often more than not you will find instructors who hold back a little here and there but Coach Alan is more than excited for the day you become better than him! From 6yrs old to 60yrs old, you will be treated w respect and with all his passion for the sport and for fitness, he will keep you motivated and encouraged to get better and stronger! It not only has been an honor to have known him for almost a decade but now knowing I have him in my corner when its GO TIME, now we're talking!!

It is great to have Alan as an instructor, he takes the time and work for everybody at his facility. He makes every detail and instruction important for every individual.

The most technical and well delivered instruction I have ever received. Honestly feel he is one the best instructors I have ever learned from. He really cares if someone gets the technique and he shows it in away that people can always understand.

I started at Coach Shebaro's jujitsu school roughly 6 months ago, and have been hooked ever since. Coach Shebaro has forced me to work my weaknesses, something I feel a lot of times gets lost in the shuffle of day-to-day training. It is a great feeling to feel like each and every time you leave class, you have improved your game.

Alan Shebaro is not only the best BJJ instructor in America, but he is a TRUE American hero! His personal sacrifices go far beyond the matt in what he's done for this country. As far as BJJ goes, he's got his own unique system of grappling that I have found to be more effective than any traditional methods around. He has also taught my son to be more of a leader. My 6 yr old son was very shy when he started. Now he can use his voice to lead and has learned how to use his mind to control his body effectively. I highly suggest choosing Alan as your instructor; you just can't beat him!!!

Combat Base Texas is not only high level training and instruction, but world class. I've been around the Dallas area at various gyms and out of all instructors I've met, none and I mean none are in comparison to Alan Shebaro. He's not the trainer that's going to only tell you all the sweet cupcake things, to keep you around and hoe for your next payment, no he tells you exactly how it is. If it looks like crap, it smells like crap then it must be crap, and he will not tell you otherwise, and he will instruct you on the correct way and explain why it's that way! I've been under Tier1 Training Facility for a few months now, I do fight and I know when I fight or compete I'm 200% prepared! After just 5 months of JIU JITSU I won Dallas NewBreed both GI and NOGI. I'm just a small story compared to all the accomplishments Alan Has not only as a special ops vet and as an instructor, but he gives his full passion into each and every person that comes into those doors and gives thief complete best regardless of the outcome! Instead of believing what I have said about Alan Shebaro and Shebaro JIU JITSU come see it for yourself either watch or join us, promise you won't regret! Our standard is EXCELLENCE!
